Treasurer Armitage distributed a report for June through September 6, 2009 showing income of $673 including dues $60, tag sale $593, and donation (Capt. Sean Bercaw $20). There were no expenses during this period so the balance is $2,756.95.

President Smith asked members to observe a moment of silence in memory of 9/11 and the men and women of our armed services.

Old Business:

Russell Smith, Phil Behney and Bill Armitage traveled to Gloucester, MA to watch Sean Bercaw race in the Blackburn Challenge on July 18.

Russell and Sean took part in a 6-mile row as part of the Bird Island Challenge on Aug. 9 at Wareham, MA.

The Jamestown, RI Counter Revolution row on Aug 29 was moved to Providence because of bad weather. Russ and Sean had been scheduled to row, but did not participate because of the bad conditions and only found out later that the race was moved up the bay to more sheltered waters.

Russ used two dories and the gig during the summer as part of a rowing summer camp.

New Business:

Russell is replacing the deck on the gig, Bill Armitage donated the wood.

Russell is starting the Ledyard Parks and Recreation rowing program once again for high-school aged kids. The program runs for 6-weeks and Russ is hoping to have his rowers prepared to take part in the Plymouth race, Head of the Weir, and the Icebreaker.

Sandy D’Esopo donated a portable wood planer to the club.
