John Gardner Chapter: November 2012 Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: 1:40 P.M. at the Customs
House in New London, CT
Introduction of 12 Members and 1 Guest, including the following
Officers: Rob Pittaway (pres.), Phil Behney (v. pres.), Bill
Armitage (treas.), and John Symons (past pres.). Absent was
Genevieve Favre (sec.). Bill Armitage agreed to take the minutes
in her stead.
A motion was made and passed to amend the wordage from the
October Monthly Meeting Minutes in section New Business/ of
Chapter Assets, Facilities, and Other Protocols. from "Treasurer
Bill Armitage asked that protocols be reviewed concerning
the use of Chapter assets……" to " Treasurer
Bill Armitage, on behalf of the Executive Committee, asked
that protocols be reviewed concerning the use of Chapter assets…"
Current balance of $4531.36
1. Member Queue
Sandy D'Esopo will remove his skiff from the shop during the
Tom Jannke's project is next on the list. If he does not contact
us, Bill Armitage will bring his guide boat in for cosmetic
work in December. Tim Weaver is after Bill, followed by Phil
Behney then John Symons.
2. Next Chapter Project
A motion was made and passed to delay making a decision on
the next chapter project until our existing fleet of dories
have been maintained. One boat remains to be converted to
a double and other boats require light maintenance and painting.
Rob reported that Russ is a proponent of building another

John Symons was nominated for the position of Vice President.
The nomination was seconded and John indicated his willingness

Karen Rutherford is running unopposed for the office of Treasurer.
Candidates for the office of Vice President are Sandy D’Esopo
and John Symons.
4. Procedure for voting for Officers
Members have the option of voting in person at the December
2nd meeting or casting their ballot by email prior to December
2nd. Email ballots should be forwarded to Gen Favre at firstname.lastname@example.org.

New officers will be seated at the January 6th meeting.
Bill Armitage has arranged the donation of a table saw, drill
press, combination sander and dust collector from the Waterford
Schools. Members are asked to assist with the equipment pickup
at Clark Lane Middle School at 6:00 on Friday November 15th.

Bill Rutherford spoke concerning the early stages for a planned
TSCA event at next year’s Wooden Boat Show in Mystic.
Information will be published in the Ash Breeze. More details
will become available in the future.
Sandy D’Esopo is interested in organizing some type
of rowing picnic event in an attempt to gain new members.
There will be further discussion on this in the future.
