John Gardner Chapter: August 2007 Meeting Minutes
The John Gardner Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association.
Minutes for the August 5, 2007 membership meeting of the
John Gardner Chapter of the TSCA.
The meeting was called to order by President Spragg in Avery
Point Boathouse at 1:35.
Four members and officers were in attendance.
A motion was proposed, seconded and passed to accept the
Secretary’s Report from the July meeting, as distributed.
The Treasure’s Report for the prior month was not available.
Russ Smith forwarded a message that there had been NO ACTIVITY
in the account and the current balance is $4295.86.
Boathouse upkeep and Activities:
Swampscott Dory is nearing completion. (Chuck)
Foot Stretchers have been built for two of the Avery Point
Dories and are being installed.
Bill is working on organizing our tools and building additional
There are tentative plans to build a few 12 foot double enders
over the winter.Phil will begin assembling his dory soon.
Bill Armitage and Russ Smith rowed the Blackburn Challenge
in the Last Chance.
They finished the 20+ mile trip around Cape Anne in 3 hours

Coastweeks Regatta Sept 16 - Mystic, CT

Plymouth Bay Row Nov 10 - Plymouth, MA
A motion was proposed and then tabled to “Not have
meetings during July and August.” The motion was tabled
pending further discussion.
A motion was made to create the position of “Commodore”
it was also tabled.
There was discussion concerning increasing the frequency
of the “Sunday Rows”.
There was additional discussion about what projects should
be considered for the coming fall and winter. This topic will
be addressed again in the future.
Members continue to use the dories which is over at Mystic
Shipyard East. An additional boat will be placed there soon
– four in total.
Welcome new members Steve and Liesbeth Slosberg.
Next meeting is scheduled for Sept 2, 2007 at 1:30 in the
afternoon. A notice will be sent out concerning this date
as it is Labor Day Weekend.
